Singer-songwriter, actor and filmmaker Hunter Hawkins is continuing their creative collaboration with legendary singer-songwriter and producer Kenny Loggins with a new rendition of “Love Will Follow.”
Written by Loggins and Tom Snow and originally recorded by Loggins for his 1985 album Vox Humana, the expansive ballad gets a fresh, cinematic treatment through Hawkins’ ethereal vocals and Loggins’ production—nearly four decades after Loggins first recorded the song himself.
Hawkins’ version begins with an intimate, understated feel before gradually expanding into a lush meditation on vulnerability, trust and the possibility of love. “When Kenny first asked me to cover his song ‘Love Will Follow,’ I was intimidated because it requires such an open, vulnerable expression,” Hawkins says. “Kenny’s collaboration and belief in me continue to bring out my best.”
The release marks another chapter in the pair’s ongoing partnership. Loggins is producing Hawkins’ forthcoming album, AWAKE, due next year. The project will also feature their previously released collaborations “Here Now” and “Seeking Release (reimagined by Kenny Loggins),” originally featured on Hawkins’ 2021 EP Phase.
With “Love Will Follow,” Hawkins and Loggins bridge the melodic sensibilities of the ’70s and ’80s with a distinctly contemporary sound—while showcasing Hawkins’ evolving artistic voice.
