Three-time GRAMMY Award winner and multi-Diamond-certified superstar Darius Rucker is back with “I Believe,” his first new music since 2023’s acclaimed Carolyn’s Boy.
Arriving Sept. 9 via MCA Nashville, “I Believe” finds Rucker turning inward with a deeply personal yet universally resonant message about hope, faith, perseverance and finding light during difficult times. Written by Rucker alongside Eric Paslay, Wayne Hector and producer Steve Robson, the new single was inspired by the idea of holding onto the things that matter most when uncertainty begins to take over. At its core, “I Believe” is a reminder that love, truth and hope can endure—even when the road ahead feels especially dark. “I think we all have moments when we wonder if things are ever going to get better,” Rucker says. “For me, this song is about remembering what you believe in when everything around you makes that hard. I believe in love. I believe in truth. I believe there’s always hope, and I believe in the people listening to this song. Sometimes you just need that reminder to keep going.”

The song builds its emotional impact around a series of simple declarations, ultimately landing on its central message: belief in something bigger than the moment. Rucker recently described the track as his “love letter to America” during an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show, where he performed an acoustic preview of the song. “The way the world is, where we are right now – I believe in us,” he said.
Rucker also brought “I Believe” to the stage throughout his recently concluded Songs of Summer Tour, giving fans an early taste of the song before its official release and fueling anticipation across social media. “I Believe” marks Rucker’s first new release following Carolyn’s Boy, his 2023 album that served as a deeply personal tribute to his late mother. The new track continues an evolving chapter in a career that has seamlessly crossed genres and generations.
Rucker first rose to international prominence as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist of Hootie & the Blowfish, the GRAMMY Award-winning band that has sold more than 25 million albums worldwide. The group’s landmark debut, Cracked Rear View, is certified Double Diamond (22x Platinum) and remains one of the best-selling studio albums of all time. After launching his Country career in 2008, Rucker quickly established himself as one of the genre’s most successful crossover artists. He has earned four No. 1 albums on the Billboard Country chart, 10 No. 1 singles at Country radio and 11 Gold, Platinum or multi-Platinum-certified hits.
In 2012, Rucker became a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Two years later, he earned his third career GRAMMY Award for Best Solo Country Performance for his Diamond-certified, 11x Platinum version of “Wagon Wheel.” The blockbuster recording remains one of the best-selling Country songs of all time and has surpassed one billion Spotify streams. Beyond music, Rucker has built an extensive philanthropic legacy.
