Multi-platinum country artist Trey Lewis is giving fans what they’ve been asking for. Today, Lewis officially releases “Long List of Exes,” one of the most requested songs from his live set, bringing the rowdy, tongue-in-cheek crowd favorite to streaming platforms for the first time.
Written by Lewis alongside Matt McKinney and Cody Parks, “Long List of Exes” transforms a complicated romantic history into a full-throttle country sing-along. Built around a ripping electric-guitar lick, a massive chorus and Lewis’ larger-than-life delivery, the track finds the Birmingham, Alabama native leaning into the reckless, restless character that has become a signature of his music. “I got a long list of exes / Who swear they got the best of me,” Lewis sings, before channeling the complaints of his former flames — from living life “a little too reckless” to being caught somewhere between “a drifter and a dreamer.” Then comes the song’s ultimate punchline: “I’ve got a long list of exes / now they’re waiting in line for me.”

The result is exactly the kind of irreverent, stadium-ready country anthem Lewis has built his career around: funny, unapologetic and impossible not to sing along with. “We’ve been playing ‘Long List of Exes’ live for years and I’m so excited to finally be able to give it to the fans,” shares Lewis. “This song really leans into my southern rock influences and takes me back to a time in my life when the only kind of relationships I seems to find were toxic ones.” The release arrives during a prolific stretch for Lewis, who has continued rolling out new music including “Without Saying a Word,” “Hanks Hurtin’ Too” and “2 Inches.”
“2 Inches” earned praise from Country Central, which described the track as a “toe-tapping and stomach-cramping comedy croon” that “bounces like a summer Alan Jackson cut.” Lewis’ signature combination of comedic timing and sharp songwriting has also earned him recognition for his “witty charm” from Country Swag, while Entertainment Focus has hailed him as “one of country music’s most unabashed voices.” Raised Rowdy has simply called his music “country gold.” That combination of humor, grit and authenticity has made Lewis a distinctive voice in a genre increasingly crowded with polished country stars. For more than a decade, the Birmingham native has carved out his own lane by blending contemporary country with Southern rock and refusing to shy away from the stories, characters and hard-earned lessons that make his songs feel lived-in.
Lewis first broke through in 2020 with the viral sensation “Dicked Down In Dallas,” an unapologetic cheating anthem that climbed to No. 1 on iTunes and established him as a nationwide force. The track has since been certified 2X Platinum by the RIAA and has amassed nearly 400 million global streams. Earlier this summer, Lewis revisited the career-defining hit with three new versions, including radio and acoustic renditions as well as an EDM remix with Deerock. Now, with “Long List of Exes” finally available for fans to stream, Lewis is once again turning the messier parts of life into something worth cranking up loud.
For an artist whose career has been built on saying the things other people might only admit after a few beers, “Long List of Exes” feels less like a new chapter than another perfectly on-brand addition to the Trey Lewis songbook. And judging by the crowds that have already been singing it back to him, the line for this one has been forming for a long time.
