Ty Myers is paying tribute to one of his biggest musical influences with a soulful new take on “Always On My Mind,” the timeless ballad famously recorded by Willie Nelson. Released today via RECORDS Nashville/Columbia, the track features emerging singer-songwriter Carter Faith and offers the 19-year-old Texas-bred artist’s first new music since his acclaimed sophomore album, Heavy On The Soul.
The release marks the first glimpse of a deeply personal album coming soon from Myers, who continues to build momentum during a milestone-filled year. Recently named to Billboard’s 21 Under 21 Class of 2026, Myers joins an elite group of the music industry’s fastest-rising young artists. He was also selected for Fender Next Class of 2026, further highlighting his reputation as one of the country world’s standout young guitarists.
“Always On My Mind” carries the emotional weight of Nelson’s celebrated rendition while allowing Myers to put his own stamp on the Country classic. Written by Johnny Christopher, Mark James and Wayne Carson in the early 1970s and first recorded by Elvis Presley in 1972, the song became a defining moment in Nelson’s catalog with his 1982 version, which earned three GRAMMY Awards, including Song of the Year.

Produced by frequent collaborator Brandon Hood, Myers’ recording begins with a sweeping arrangement before settling into an understated combination of piano and steel guitar, the latter played by Nashville session veteran Bruce Bouton. Myers delivers the song with a restrained vulnerability, capturing the remorse at its center without overplaying its emotion. Faith enters during the second verse, adding another voice to the song’s portrait of love, regret and reconciliation. As their vocals intertwine, the arrangement gradually builds toward an emotional bridge before falling away into a sparse guitar solo, giving Myers’ musicianship another moment in the spotlight.
The track follows Myers’ GOLD-certified debut album, The Select, which arrived in 2025 and featured the PLATINUM-certified hits “Ends of the Earth,” “Thought It Was Love” and “Drinkin’ Alone.” His sophomore set, Heavy On The Soul, followed in March and continued his rapid ascent as a young artist bringing guitar-driven Country music to a new generation. The timing of “Always On My Mind” is particularly fitting. Just weeks after its release, Myers will share the stage with Nelson for two September performances alongside Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts. On Sept. 22, Myers will appear at Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater in Bridgeport, Conn., followed by a Sept. 24 performance at TD Pavilion at the Mann in Philadelphia.
Then, on Sept. 26, Myers will make his debut at Farm Aid 2026 at Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater in Virginia Beach, Va. The lineup includes Nelson and Young alongside John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews with Tim Reynolds, Margo Price, Nathaniel Rateliff and others. For Myers, the Farm Aid appearance carries an especially personal connection. Raised on his family’s cattle ranch outside Austin, the young artist has grown up with the agricultural roots and musical traditions that continue to shape his artistry. With “Always On My Mind,” Myers isn’t simply revisiting a Country standard — he’s connecting his own emerging voice and musicianship with the legacy of one of the artists who helped inspire him in the first place.
